Even though Alberta’s workforce had increased in 2008 by 6%, with nearly 2 million workers covered by Alberta’s Workers’ Compensation Board, injury rates have remained steady and show signs of dropping. One reason for the decrease, is because approximately 7,500 companies have enrolled in the Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) program - a voluntary program designed to encourage and reward employers for safe behaviors. WCB Manitoba
On April 28, 2009, hundreds of people marched through Winnipeg to the Manitoba Legislative Building as part of the Day of Mourning Leaders’ Walk. The walk was organized by the WCB of Manitoba to honor anyone who has been killed or injured while at work.
